10 rescued. one feared dead in Essequibo Coast boat mishap PDF Print E-mail

One man is feared drowned and 10 others are counting themselves lucky having been rescued after the vessel they were travelling in capsized at sea, police said. Missing and feared dead is 24-year old Fred Crème of Onderneeming, Essequibo Coast. Police said that about 3:30 Saturday afternoon, va wooden balahoo with ten men aboard capsized off the Riverstown Foreshore, Essequibo Coast, due to the rough tide . Another vessel that was in the vicinity went to their assistance but Crème “is unaccounted for and is feared drowned.”

Seafarers entering the Georgetown Harbour will soon have to rely on the Marriott Hotel as the highest point near the mouth of the Demerara River, officials said.

The 103-foot tall Lighthouse has been already overtaken by the Marriott Hotel being constructed immediately north on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean.
