As Prime Minister Samuel Hinds begins his fifth term in that office, work is continuing apace at his private residence at Farm, East Bank Demerara.

The house and 1.327 acres of land at Farm have been transferred from the state-owned Guyana Sugar Corporation to Hinds and his wife Yvonne.

Demerara Waves Online News (www.demwaves.com ) has been reliably informed that the couple has secured a GUY$25 million mortgage.

According to the Official Gazette of September 3, 2011 the first mortgage has been acquired from Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited.

Hinds,68, a former bauxite industry executive, had owned a house at Richmond Hill, Linden. That property was at one time rented to at least two foreign companies.

He later sold it to a re-migrant for at least GUY$9 million. The re-migrant subsequently resold the property to a locally-based Guyanese.

Hinds has been living at 52-53 Main Street, Georgetown since becoming Prime Minister in 1992.
