According to 72-year-old Geddes, at around 2:00pm he was in the front yard of his Lot 190 Roxanne Burnham Garden home, tending to his flower plants when the lone bandit entered his yard and approached him. The man, whom he said carried a "big gun", proceeded to gunbutt him in the head twice, during which time he relieved the shocked Geddes of his two gold chains from around his neck. The victim stated that the chains are worth over $100,000. Though a senior citizen and despite the assault from the bandit, Geddes said he still managed to wrestle with the culprit and thus was able to secure his striped shirt, which he handed over to the police. During the incident, Geddes wife, with whom he resides alone, was in the house, and was unharmed as the bandit only carried out his unlawful act in the yard. Geddes said the incident lasted only a few minutes after which the perpetrator fled the scene and the police were summoned. He was then taken to the The man added that he recognised the unmasked bandit as someone who lives within the Rassville environs, and described him as being of African descent, fair-skinned and medium-built. This is the first time that something of this sort has happened to the steelpan stalwart. |
