Police spokesman, Ivelaw Whittaker said 49-year old Sarsawattie Singh of Foulis, Enmore, East Coast Demerara was robbed about 11:30 AM. “The two men threw Sarsawattie Singh to the ground and took away her jewellery valued at $210,000.00, and her hand-bag with $5,000.00 and escaped,” police said. Mobile patrols, according to Whittaker, were alerted immediately after receiving the report and police intercepted a car some distance from the scene. The driver and two male occupants have been arrested and the stolen items recovered. “The two men were searched and all the articles stolen from Sarsawattie Singh were found in their possession.
