The door of the Honda Civic car left behind as the vehicle raced towards a parked truck.

Three persons died and six others injured in four accidents on Sunday, the latest fatality being Qadir Arkhan of the Corentyne.

Police confirmed that Qadir Arkhan,25, died when the Honda Civic car he was driving slammed into a parked truck on the Crabwood Creek public road.

His friend only known as Boy was rushed to the Skeldon Hospital in a critical condition.

Eyewitnesses said the Honda Civic was speeding north along the Crabwood Creek road when it a bump and the driver lost control. The vehicle ran off the road, slammed into H.Sugrim’s (Chinee) fence before slamming into a truck 150 metres away. The truck was thrown into a culvert on impact.

The car lost one of its doors even as the vehicle was still heading for the truck.

That accident is the second for Sunday in which a parked truck was involved. The first was at Stanleytown, West Bank Demerara where a bus driven by Teddy Persaud crashed into a parked truck.

And on Sunday night, five persons sustained minor injuries as a result of a smash-up on the Peters Hall Public Road opposite the Demerara Harbour Bridge.

Citizen reporter, Troy Jacobs said the accident caused traffic to back-up past the Providence Cricket Stadium.

And police said 50-year old Rajdendranauth Rambinjan of Perseverance, Mahaicony was  struck down and killed while riding his pedal cycle at Cottage, Mahaicony around 10:25 Sunday.

Investigations revealed that the driver of motor car PGG 751 was driving along the roadway when it is alleged that the pedal cyclist attempted to cross the road and was struck down by the vehicle. Rambinjan  was pronounced dead on arrival the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.

The driver is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
