A retired head teacher, who turned an alcoholic, on Tuesday died several hours after he was hit down by a vehicle driven by a policeman.

Dead is 65-year old Thakurdial ‘Johnny’ Jaisuri of Charity, Pomeroon.

The policeman is now under close arrest, assisting with the probe, according to well-placed sources.

Jaiasuri was struck down Monday evening around 6:30 PM. Demerara Waves Online News (www.demwaves.com )was told the policeman turned into an unlighted street and ran over an object.

On checking, according to the sources, the policeman made the shocking discovery and he immediately rushed the man to the Charity Hospital and he also informed the relatives.
