Residents in areas of western Leguan were Friday battling flood waters caused by extremely high spring tide and siltation of a koker outfall, authorities said. Public Works Minister, Robeson Benn said equipment is being rushed to temporarily repair an old breach at

Benn and other local officials confirmed that a koker outfall was cleared on Thursday but again silted up overnight, preventing flood waters caused by the high tide from draining into the Residents say that some vegetable crops have been affected by the flood. Let's hope that the government uses a portion of the much-talked-about future oil windfall to build sea defenses that will protect our low-lying coast from the anticipated deluge.
And I hope that the windfall comes before the deluge does.
