A mother and son have been hospitalised with gunshot wounds following a disagreement with their Mc Doom, East Bank Demerara neighbour.

Demerara Waves Online News learnt that Abiola Eadie, 38, of 50 Middle Street Mc Doom was shot in the face while her son Martin Barker, 21, was shot twice in the region of his chest by the man identified only as “Jessie” around noon Wednesday.

The woman is a patient in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and her son was admitted to the Male Surgical Ward.

Eadie’s cousin Iyesha George who resides at the same address said the incident sparked from an argument over a game fowl.

“My cousin came out and asked her son if he had any dealings with the game fowl, which in they have game fowl and my cousin have two. So my cousin asked him did you take these people game fowl to fight your fowl and he said no mommy, he didn’t do it,” George related.

According to the woman, she went downstairs to help resolve the argument over the bird and then everything happened faster than she could have followed with “Jessie” starting to shoot.

“Right now everybody just hurt because my cousin is in a bad state. I think it could have been

worked out in a better way, it didn’t have to end like this,” said George.

George displayed a skin wound on her left arm where she said a bullet grazed her when the neighbour opened fire.

A resident from the area related that she saw “Jessie” run out of the street and jump onto a truck amidst objections from the driver.

The woman said the vehicle was heading towards the city.

Prosecute - then life in prison. I am so sorry for these victims. What happen to gun control? When I was growing up, my neighbors had frequent quarrels and fights but, amazingly no one died.

This one got a gun, that one have a gun and soon all man and woman have a gun.

A gun in a man and woman hand is a gift from the PPP to stay in power.

Give out more guns Rohee, while the streets become more flooded.

The Water Cannon will not be able to function with the rate at which Guyana is going.....

This is very sad , I wish all involved in this incident a speedy recovery. The society in Guyana is falling apart while the politicans are playing politics and games with the people mind oppressing the people in a delibrate and calculated manner. Where is the tolerance and love between the people. After 19 years of PPP mis-rule Guyana has become a lawless and failed state. When I look at so call the leadership of the nation they all reminds me of gangsters and mafias. During the PPP rule, the country has decline and has produced a generation of backward individual too many to mention , a deliberate policy of the government. I wonder how much longer do we have to wait to see The Guyana Spring, where the people rise up and rid the nation of these corrupt politicans who are blighting our people and nation. Patriots of all colours must come together and and create a society fit for all to live in without fear, one based on the justice and the rule of law. It is because there is no rule of law and the breakdown of the judicary why the people take action actions into their own hand. The so call government of Guyana should be ashamed, thus after so many years in government the country is in this state. I was what were they governing.
Judgement says all of these politicans will have to one day give account for them misleading the people and intoducing corruption and intolerance into the mindset of the people. No one can and will escape this judgement.God bless Guyana and you the people of Guyana don't fall into the trap laid down by the government for they will be snared by they own deceit.

This picture shows a nice road with curbed sides and houses in fair condition. But why so many people hanging out and not engaged in productive activity? Looks like a certain part of South Carolina; women making babies and men selling drugs, gambling and stealing. Cock fighting, drug pushing, pick pocketing, chic chic board, hustling; what wastrels.

Three counts of attempted murder, posession of an unlicenced fire arm, illegal discharg of a fire arm... 100 years in prison.

But then in reality shabby investigation by the police, missing file jacket, witness not showing up for court, bribe, payment to settle out of court will all supercede this.

I pray that both mom and son pulls through.

Sadly enough the Government is to be blamed for this. With the proliferation of hanguns, the Government should have moved to enact laws that would indicate they are serious about this menace. So far no new laws have been enacted. If so they do not go far enough.!. Being found with an illegal gun..automatic life in prison with hard labour. Murder by gun..death within 6 months of sentencing. Shooting and wounding life with strokes and hard labour. this is what you elect a government to do ,protect its people. This is foolishness..
