Former Guyana Defence Force Lieutenant Colonel, attorney and CEO of COPS Guyana security service Gregory Gaskin has died as a result of a biking accident at the South Dakota Circuit. He was 64. His wife, Noreen Gaskin, told reporters that her husband might have suffered a blackout and fell down with his bike while negotiating a turn on the race track. The front of his helmet was broken. She said the blackout might have been caused by the heat, leather suit and enclosed helmet. She said her husband was rushed to the St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in an alert and conscious conditon. However, his condition deteriorated and she later learnt that his ribs broke and punctured a lung. His lung was filled with fluid and his abdomen became swollen. Efforts to revive Gaskin, an asthmatic, eventually failed and plans to perform surgery failed. A COPS Guyana clerk, who was at the Gaskins residence, said "He was a generpus guy. If you don't have a job, he would find one and give you." He was a practising lawyer since 2004. Gaskin is survived by his wife and two children. |

May His Soul Rest in Peace!
Many years ago Col. Gaskin was in charge of the Kimbia Agricultural Complex, which at that time included Koriri. I think he was one of the three Assistant Director Generals (ADG) in the Guyana National Service (GNS)back then. Thank you for making my compulsory stint at these locations an enjoyable one. Your good name will always feature in our conversations when myself and friends look back at our GNS days.

Love Audrey Sinclair and family...
He was my boss in Jamaica for a number of years. He placed me on a pedestial, he wanted to see me succeed. Very caring
for my brother and my son. "Always young at heart" - my son's reponse when he heard of the tragedy. I can relate to
many of the above comments because I knew
Gregory. May his soul rest in peace.
