Leader of the Alliance For Change, Raphael Trotman Wednesday night signalled his preference for his number two- Khemraj Ramjattan- to succeed him. Trotman was at the time speaking at the opening of the AFC’s office in Enmore, East Coast Demerara- a traditional stronghold of the governing Peoples Progressive Party Civic (PPPC). Reacting, Ramjattan confirmed that the comment was made but described it as a “causual remark.” “It might be a good indication of how Raphael is thinking,” he said. Since becoming Speaker of the National Assembly questions have been raised about Trotman still being the AFC’s leader. Trotman’s apparent preference for Ramjattan was made known little more than one month before the AFC holds its National Conference on July 28 at the Ocean View Convention Centre. Ramjattan, who is currently the party’s chairman, said ultimately the decision would not be made by a comment but by votes at the conference. Party insiders on Wednesday told Demerara Waves Online News (www.demwaves.com) that neither Moses Nagamootoo nor Nigel Hughes is expected to challenge Ramjattan for the position of leader. However, some party sources say a Nagamootoo-Hughes combination is being floated to take the AFC into the next national elections. |

COMMENT: And this is how it should be with ALL POLITICAL PARTIES seeking to govern Guyana. If you want to Guyana, you must be freely elected by your party supporters. No rigging of votes.
Trotman and other PNC supporters in the AFC wants Naag and JAAT to do the dirty work splitting Indian support for the PPP/C so the PNC can gain power bringing back starvation to Guyanese,
trust the PNC the major party of the APNU will follow similarily and at their congress in july
