Home Affairs Minister, Clement Rohee confirmed that the inmate escaped. He said he was still awaiting a report from prison authorities. However, well-placed sources told Demerara Waves Online News (www.demwaves.com) that Sherwin Bobb scaled the prison fence around 12:53 AM. A nearby resident claimed that she saw a man in her yard cleaning his wounds apparently sustained from the barb wire. Suspecting that he was a prison escapee, the woman alerted prison authorities but her report was not taken seriously immediately. He has not yet been recaptured, according to Rohee. Bobb was remanded two weeks ago after he had been allegedly caught in possession of a quantity of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking. |
