ronald-websterIn the wake of the resignation of  Yog Mahadeo as the Chairman of the Private Sector Commission (PSC), the umbrella business organisation has elected a new boss.

He is Ronald Webster of Caribbean Container Inc; who beat well-known rice magnate, Beni Sankar in what the PSC called a “closely fought contest.”

The election was held at a Special Council Meeting that was held Wednesday to elect a new Chairman.

The other Executive members are: Vice-Chairman Mr. Clinton Urling who is President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Secretary Mr. Andrew Astwood who is President of the Shipping Association of Guyana and Treasurer Mr. Chandradat Chintamani who represents Demerara Distillers Ltd.

Mahadeo resigned as Chief Executive Officer of the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) on June 29, one day after he had been elected PSC Chairman.

After he voluntarily resigned from the phone company, he quit being head of the PSC on July 6.

BENI SANKAR IS NO RICE MAGNATE - Ronald Webster of Caribbean Container inc. defeat of Beni Sankar is a necessary victory against who is total - saved many things by the PPP. Editor, Sankar is no rice magnate. He rents all the rice lands and is experimenting on fishing farming - and has never made a success of t.

I can send you the minutes - as the former Secretary of NAAG (National Aquaculture Association of Guyana),where he updated the meetings about the difficulties.

We removed him as founding Chairman - a position - he held for years - without achieving any success.

Sankar father, Mr. Kaman Sankar was an effecient and industrious businessman, but went over to the Burnham dictatorship, having served the PPP for decades.

Beni has had acrimoniousness rows with fishing experts brought in by the PPP regime. His selfish attitude caused the USAID and its experts to pull out of the project and saw the destruction of the organisation.

He is part of the pro-PPP regime network - which meets two times a month at the the Ministry of Agriculture.
