Nigel Hughes

The Alliance For Change (AFC) on Friday disclosed that it has secured the services of a UK-based forensic expert who is willing to help with the ballistic testing of the metal fragments recovered from the bodies of the three dead Linden protesters.

Executive member Nigel Hughes told Demerara Waves Online News that the expert, Dr. Mark Robinson, was willing to observe the ballistic tests spearheaded by the Guyana Police Force and conduct his own.

He added that he has formally written acting Commissioner of Police Leroy Brumell seeking his permission for Dr. Robinson’s involvement and is awaiting his response.

According to Hughes, the forensic expert is prepared to travel at short notice. When contacted by DemWaves on the AFC's offer Brumell in a brief response stated that "the person will have to apply to the Ministry of Home Affairs for a permit to work in Guyana."

The AFC was instrumental in securing the services of Trinidadian pathologist Professor Hubert Daisley who witnessed the post mortem examinations on the bodies of the Lindeners Shemroy Bouyea, Allan Lewis and Ron Somerset. The autopsies were conducted by government pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh.

The results have shown that the men were all shot through the heart with “bronze-capped” lead bullets, Professor Daisley revealed afterwards. This directly contradicted the police contention that only tear gas and rubber pellets were used against the protesters.

The trio was part of a group of residents who had blocked the Wismar-Mackenzie Bridge in protest of a government move to gradually bring electricity rates in the town on par with the rest of the country.

Ten days later, the protest which was initially planned for five days, continues with Lindeners calling for the ranks to be charged with murder. The terms of reference for a Commission of Inquiry into the incident are currently being hammered out by the political parties.

Like i said before the trio broke the law
The police officers were defending themselves from these thugs/ hoodlums, the marchers was not peaceful ,they were instigated by the AFC and APNU for their own agenda thus no one should be charged, suspend ed or fired

These political killings were well planned possible by a sniper or live ammunition were given to selected members of the crowd control group with instructions on how to aim and fire and who to aim and fire on. Thus the entire PPP/C should be names as co-conspirators in these murders and be indicted for murder either by the courts of Guyana or the international criminal courts. These were the same people who were leading in parliament to pass bill for the removal of the death penalty. Today we discovered what they were up to. All were acting in concert to commit this atrocity. Now they are desecrating parliament by wanting to speak on the motion of no confidence. Let them speak. Talk will not stop the Hague from taking the case of an entire government committing crimes against humanity on their citizens. We want the entire world to hear how arrogant they are; thus they must pay for their crimes. This is murder one. there is no statue of limitation on this. And plea that one was taking orders from superiors all who participated in this decision, those who knew of it and did not stop it and those who are defending it are co-conspirators

Way to go AFC. It's a pity you didn't put that much effort into negotiaiting a better deal for the Lindeners. If our opposition had represented the people before the protest we would not have been where we are. The AFC needs to take some blame for the killings in Linden.

Now that this Government has turned attention from their corruption to the killing off of persons in Linden. When will this state of affairs end?

I am surprise to hear from the police Chief that the Expert have to get permit to observe the items found in the bodies. The shooting of the Guyanese in Linden reminded me about the incident in South Africa when peaceful people were killed.

I hate when persons are so insensitive matters, I'm referring to the comment made about hooligans blocking the bridge. Are you aware that one of these persons who were shot was a mentally challenged lad. I maintain that it was unwarranted and unjustified to use live rounds. I was in the UK last year when the riots were in session, and all I saw it was the police standing on one side of the road and observing the session, of course the relied on the cameras and other intelligence to nab the looters.

I guess Daisely was allowed to work under the Caricom agreement, howev er if Robinson is a Guyanese or a Caribbean national too should be granted the same privilege ,they are running around like headless chickens to block anyone or anything that may expose them. The Ballistic tests will only confirm Daiselys findings.

The APNU negotiated with the PPP and left the AFC out. The AFC raised the red flag and had APNU back pedaling. Follow the news from start to end and then comment.

Rishi what do you know were you there? how could you declare that the peopole ventilating an issue of real concern to them are law breakers, thugs and hooligans. If the above descriptions fit the Lindeners then I guess you will have no difficulty applying the same labels to the Tain protesters, the Ballot Box "Martyrs" and the Enmore Martyrs; were they not all protesting and ventilating their concerns?
