One woman is dead and 14 others were injured Sunday in a collision car and a minibus on the Lima Public Road, Essequibo Coast.

Dead is Reena Rajkumkar,34, of Somerset and Berks Village.

Two of her children-Navindra Persaud,7, and six-year old Geeta Persaud- as well as her nephew Satesh rajkumar, 10 were injured and airdashed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.

The  minibus, which was driven by Vincent Persaud, was heading to Anna Regina when he collided with a speeding car that was driven by Junior Ramroop. A number of the passengers was going to the Lake Mainstay Regatta.

The drivers are in serious condition.

Also brought to the city are Allan Gildharie, his wife- Claire- and two-year old Alex.

Allan sustained injuries to both legs, arms, shoulder and head. His wife's legs were strapped. Allan and family were taking a "drop" in the bus to the Sudddie Hospital to visit his father when the collision occurred.

Bus conductor Amar Persaud was injured and remained a patient at the Suddie Hospital.

A Guyana Defence Force helicopter, around 1:30 PM, left Georgetown with a doctor to collect the injured persons and airdash them to the city where they would be taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).

Details about the accident are sketchy but both vehicles have been mangled.lima_ogle

There is nothing wrong with using the helicopter for that purpose, but why didn't they use it the same way in linden?

THIS IS SO TRAGIC, I HOPE NO ONE LOSSES THEIR LIFE HERE.

HOW MUCH MORE OF THIS MAHEM DOES GUYANA HAVE TO ENDURE BEFORE THIS GOVERNMENT MAKE OUR RAODS SAFE. WE DONT EVEN HAVE 500 MILES OF PAVED ROADES IN OUR NETWORK AND ITS UNMANAGERABLE.

BUT the scarey part is that no senior govt offical will be assigned to address what went wrong and find a solution so it dosen't happen again.

WE NEED CHANGE !WE NEED CHANGE!

My relatives was in the mini bus and I pray for their safe recovery. I already lost a cousin in this crash. I don't want to loose anyone else.
Our prayers are with everyone involved in this accident.

I am calling on the Minister's to do whatever they can to make our roads safer and hope a tragedy like this will not happen again.

I'm so tired with these drivers who can't learn from other people's mistakes they keep speeding as if they rass mad. Now look at the outcome.

How about lower speed limits, stop signs, yield signs and speed humps on Essequibo road? Too many fatalities of late. Come on Goverment of Guyana, it's time to do something and protect your people.

My oh My...My best wishes to all the families who suffered injuries and condolences to the Rajkumar family for their loss. I remember as a kid the road on Essequibo was't as good as they are right now, lots of pot holes but they were not much accidents, because they had no choice but to drive slowly. I'm so happy they are improvements but they also need to put down some serious speed restrictions and laws for the people. The last time I visited Guyana, I was there with my all my kids and it was raining, the guy that was driving the bus my family hired was very young and in the rain he was driving like he was crazy..he was going about 90km an hour in very heavy rain, can you imagine?...My husband had to ask him if something was wrong with him. He said from Supernaam to Charity only takes like 20 mins. My husband said well sir I am paying you and I would like you to take an hour to reach Charity. Very reckless drivers on the Essequibo Coast.

Well the Guyana Government dnt care about those things. To put systems in place to curb speeding public transportation is easy like taking candy from a baby. But the government dnt care. We the users have to take a stance and speak to these drivers,

Throught out this hold year...about 95% of road accidents are happening and what are the cause of it [speeding] and what are the outcome of it [death] and what are the people learning out of it..[nothing] i know that no one can't bring back those who lost their love ones but there are things that people can do to help prevent more accident from happening...and it start from this road..drivers need to know their limit on this road and i think that the government [should make sure] that every road turn have a sigh too limit speed and should have stop, slow down and all the sigh that that can tell some dumb drivers that they are other people on the road who don't want to die as yet..everyday u open a news paper or turn on the television there is it, an accident and what does the government have to say about this [nothing]...i didn't read the newspaper but i heard that some people say that the car driver was drunk...we weren't there but those who was can tell...in this tragic accident it's not one man fault, i would say its both..cause if you're driving pass the more than the limit...and passing another driver on the road you are not sending the right message to that other driver..which means that when one speed the rest do the same so it's not one person fault...i just want to say that i'm very sorry for those who lose their love ones..it's not easy and i know for sure that some people will not take this easy..some want revenge, some want the law to work the right way by sending whoever have to send to prison..but even sending the person who cause this hold accident won't bring back the lose ones..but i do agreed that the law should work the right way and if it was from the start...driver would know it and learn it and would think twice before speeding.

For those of you who say "good for the other one too" you are ignorant. Reena was a wonderful, humble human being whom you could of learnt something from. Those children in the accident are innocent and your brother has left them damaged and without their mother for the rest of their lives. So he is exactly where he should be. $$$$$ can't help you now!!
