A man was shot late Tuesday night in controversial circumstances in a now almost one-month old unrest that began against a hike in electricity tariffs.

Randy Tello of 73 Wismar Extension  was shot to his face and remains a patient at the Mackenzie Hospital.

The 23-year old man is a former boxer who fought in a number of Caribbean countries including Barbados, St Kitts and Nevis and St.Maarten.

His mother Rocklyn Tello told Demerara Waves Online News (www.demwaves.com) that she was told that her son was returning home when police stopped him. He ran and they ran behind, shooting.

He was also badly beaten in his back with firearms.

She said he had just returned a bicycle to someone when the incident occurred on the One  Mile Wismar Public Road in front of Bobby Noel’s Store.

Police, however, said the man was wanted in connection with a hail of bricks and bottles that was hurled at a police patrol earlier Tuesday night.

While Mackenzie remains relatively calm, police and soldiers have been facing some resistance in the removal of obstructions in Wismar.

So I wonder if the Police that shot this man would be brought to Georgetown and face the courts for this cowardly act, like they did with the the eleven Lindeners. Shame on the Police the are getting overbearing now with this shooting thing.

The police in Guyana are nothing less than extra judicial killers with the spirit of oppression and brutuallity written all over their uguly faces .

They have no respect for life.I saw a few of these guys in linden and these are the same men who are killing and intimidating their own people, killing them no doubt for money and bribe and for the 30 pieces. Like the blackman's life has no value in Guyana.

How sad it is that this ppp regime is using black police and soldiers to shot and kill black women, children and old women and most of all to kill and silence the black youths who would naturally appose their wickedness and oppression.

I wonders if the police man who shot Randy Tello in his face has any children , nieces or nephews. How can you shot some one in their face like this, in most countries you cant even shoot an animal much more people.

Looks like this ppp regime is up to its old trick again like it was in 2004-2006 where they killed hundred of innocent black males. Like they have a plan to kill out the rest of them.

Those black police men in Guyana I have lost all respect for them. They are a disgrace to the human race nothing less than mercenaries who are willing to kill for the right price , house. They are the house slave to the government and they must be viewed by the afro guyanese has they enemies.

I hope the human right bodies are taking notes of the atrocities and injustices that in taking place in Guyana . The regime has declared war upon us black people and is using black stooges to carry out this genocide, Linden now I wonder where else next.

If this police and soldiers brutuallity continues then people have a right to defend themselves and families against this holocaust taking place at the present time.

It is my understanding that Kwame McCoy - the proverbial Uncle Tom went out of his way on 'Square Talk" last evening to mention that I was inciting violence and peddling racist comments.

The fact is that irrespective of what he thinks, feels or does either for himself or his puppet masters at 'Freedom House' will not save himself, Jagdeo, Donald Duck, Luncheon, Sam Blinds, Gary Best and all other house slaves and Uncle Toms from the day of reckoning which will soon descend upon them all.

The regime that Kwame continues to serve as a toothless poodle and a blind follower has committed numerous rights abuses which have been clearly documented for the world to see on all of the various social media sites ranging from FaceBook to You Tube. The local media houses ranging from the courageous Demerara Waves to the brave Gordon Moseley now face persistent threats to life and limb given the recent utterances emanating from the lunatic fringe at Office-of-the-President and 'Freedom House'. The recent assaults and singling out of respected journalist Freddie Kissoon and political activist Mark Benschop bears testimony to the PPP's acts of desperation and depravity.

The local UN Offices in Guyana are also just as guilty of this kind of behaviour because like the so called ABC countries as a fellow writer put - 'seem quite unconcerned about the patent injustices being meted out against the African community at Linden'. In fact the current behaviour of the UN agencies in Guyana is similar to the very nonchalant premise adopted by the then Secretary General of the United Nations - Koffi Annan towards the situation in Rwanda at that time.

Needless to same Koffi Annan ended up as the worst Secretary General in the history of the United nations. The current nonchalant attitude of the UN offices in Guyana coupled with the apathy of the PPP regime now leaves the valiant freedom fighters to recognise that they must intensify the struggle for human dignity, respect and economic equity.

The fact also stands out quite clearly that the PPP and Donald Duck do not take kindly to any kind of criticism from any quarters so now even press freedom is under threat in Guyana given the recent threats issued by the regime against the local media and various social media sites. What are they suggesting that very soon they will be instructing the various telecoms operators and ISPs to start blocking access to social media?

Just recently as well - the respected Inter-American Commission on Human Rights also condemned the regime for its flagrant and patent human rights violations. This latest assault on press freedom as noted in the regime's singling out bloggers, writers, journalists and all those that are putting their lives and livelihood on the line to expose the naked truth must be strongly condemned by the international community as it violates the UN Charter of Rights and the Treaty of Chapultepec that guarantees press freedom in the Americas.

Long Live the Struggle - No Retreat, No Surrender! Umkhonto we Sizwe!

This is brutality of the most primitive nature. The PPP is out to kill these people. Lindeners, stand up and fight. Damnit!

Denis Chabrol and all those in the media world, private sector, and every body who calling and concentrating on normalcy and the place being quiet, instead of securing justice for those who have been unjustly treated, can this be right? A picture tells a thousand words and Ramotar is drenched in the blood of those he is brutalizing.

How can there be normlacy in the face of all these bloody bad treatment. I am too upset today.

When will this madness end? How much more blood must de shed.Rise up Guyana and put a stop to this shedding of innocent blood. This is a crime against humanity. Can we as a nation condone this wanton shooting of our citizens? What, is it the colour of the skin of these people the reason why no one cares enough to put a stop to this unwarrented use of state forces to oppress, kill and maim citizens? Can this nation afford to allow Mr. Ramotar and his government to carry out their vendetta on an already impovershed community?
Is there no real justice in Guyana? No one has a consciense? You put protesters before the courts with a string of trumped up charges and the officers who murder and maim the people outside of the law continue to do so without sanction. A people con only take so much and no more. Mr. Ramotar why are you pushing Linden to its Limit? Have you no heart? Would you condone this if it were you and your family? You have the power to put an end to this madness before it is too late.

If We Must Die

If we must die, let it not be like hogs
Hunted and penned in an inglorious spot,
While round us bark the mad and hungry dogs,
Making their mock at our accursèd lot.
If we must die, O let us nobly die,
So that our precious blood may not be shed
In vain; then even the monsters we defy
Shall be constrained to honor us though dead!
O kinsmen! we must meet the common foe!
Though far outnumbered let us show us brave,
And for their thousand blows deal one death-blow!
What though before us lies the open grave?
Like men we'll face the murderous, cowardly pack,
Pressed to the wall, dying, but fighting back!
Claude McKay

This poem was written in response to colonial oppression. All West Indians who felt the sting of oppression held, and still hold, writers such as McKay and our very own Martin Carter in high esteem. Every one wanted liberation no matter the cost.
Mr. President You deploy your Police and army to lay siege to a town as if at war. They murder, maim and terrorize until, "everywhere the faces of men are strained and anxious"(Carter) and you Mr. President condone and justify their actions. Lindeners are citizens too as legitimate as those at Tain. This situation will define your presidency. Choose how you want to go down in the history books- A murdering dictator or a true patriot.

"The party headed by Brigadier (Rtd) David Granger has lamented that the operation which commenced on Friday last and continues to date “has so far resulted in injuries to several innocent civilians, including women and children, many of whom were in their homes.”
The Party, particularly, “deplored the shooting in the face of 10-year old Nkosi Henry while he was standing in his yard at One Mile Wismar on 12th August.”
