cjiaaerodromeA Roraima Airways security officer Monday morning allegedly assaulted a special constabulary airport security guard at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport ( CJIA) after he failed to get a quantity of cocaine on a Delta Airlines flight, sources said.

He was arrested after airport security saw him allegedly placing a bag at the back of the forklift.

The bag contained a blanket in which the cocaine was stitched into six compartments, sources said.

Roraima Airways is the ground handling agent for Delta Airlines.

Demerara Waves Online News (www.demwaves.com) was told that the airline security officer had assaulted the female airport security after she refused an inducement of GUY$10,000 and US$200 to allow him to pass hassle-free.

The Roraima Airways official Monday night remained in police custody. Investigators have already released one of the staff members of Water Chris catering service but continued to detain another for further questioning.,

“This had nothing to do with Water Chris. Nothing was in the food,” the official told DemWaves
.

The source explained that after the Roraima Airways official was challenged about why he had placed the bag aback the forklift that usually takes the food bins into the aircraft, he was taken to a room.

It was from there that he tried to escape.

On arriving at the airport, the Roraima Airways security officer had objected to colleague taking over from him to escort the food to the aircraft.

This is an opportunity for Cde. Rohee and President Ramoutar to step up and recognize the Female Security Officer who "refused' to accept a bribe and did her job very well Indeed She should be commended publicly and possibly promoted as This was certainly an exceptional EXAMPLE OF WHAT GUYANA NEEDS.

I think that Guyana, USA, the FBI, CANU now have a very good lead on drug smuggling in Guyana. Follow this lead to the summit. . The summit is the highest point. This is the biggest break these countries and organization get and will ever get in years. They should check for gold and diamond smuggling also. What a break through. Thanks to the courageous woman security guard. I have faith in our Guyanese women. They are the soul and the conscience of that nation. They struggled the most against tyranny and have lost the most but they keep on fighting for their dignity. My god bless the courageous women of Guyana. May he have mercy on them, grant them his favors and protect them from the evil and corrupted regime.

God work by the Special Constable. Recently, whilst checking in at the CJIA enroute to N.Y. I was accosted by a young male Indian employee at the scanner. I had a quantity of frozen shrimp in one of my suitcases. I was told that frozen shrimp was not permitted to be taken on the flight. I asked to see a supervisor after which he told me to put my suitcases on the scanner. Security at the CJIA IS VERY LAPSE and most employees are only interested in fleecing passengers.

God bless and protect you female police officer, you have upheld dignity you reminded me of my little friend Miss Tamika Tennant, who demanded the pink suitcase be checked and searched and because she stuck to her ground the foolish supervisor repremanded her with a memo, good thing Shemika used to have log of all her list of duties when she worked for CANU at the Airport. I wonder what Captain Jerry is saying about this situation because he is the owner of Roraima Airways Handling Services and Roraima Hotel and they provide the services at the VIP Lounge I have to wonder when next I am at home staying at Roraima Hotel and given a VIP voucher if I am going to take up the offer to use the facilities at the VIP lounge.

I wish to commend the officer that did her job well and refused to be bribed. It's sad to see how easily would bridge others to do wrong things and pass drugs through the airport.

Great job done by the airport in stamping down on the people who traffic drugs. Although it looks bad that drugs were apprehended, it also shows that the security and doing more to stop it from leaving the country.

Keep it up all airport staff!!

Some of these people working at the airport are complete idiots and are clueless on their jobs. Frozen fish and shrimp is allowed in the US. Uncooked meats, fruits and vegetables is strictly prohibited.

Great job by the female airport security personnel. She's a fine example of a conscientious employee who refused to be bribed. She should be applauded and commended for her performance in line of duty. As we all know, these personnel don't make handsome wages and that's why bribery is so rampant in all sectors od Guyana. Recently, there was an incident published where three police officers were accused for taking bribes ans I'd assume only a small percentage of these criminal are caught. Bribery and corruption are cancerous in Guyana.

This is the way to go if we want Guyana to turn around from a nation of kick backs and bribes.

That woman is a shining example of what is needed here.

After saying all that...it is known the world over that the fairer sex are more trustworthy in areas of security than the
men.

BIG UP TO THE WOMEN.

It is about time that we give the women their due.
