A young detective, who was making a lot of drug busts, was found shot dead in his car at Number 70 Village, Corentyne.

Police sources say Detective Jirbahand Dianand’s body was discovered in a car at Number 70 Village, Corentyne with a gunshot wound.

He was stationed at Springlands Police Station and was assigned to Moleson Creek where the Guyana-Suriname ferry operates.

A police release later stated that Detective Constable Dianand, 23, was found around 5.30 AM in motor car PHH 6528 on the public road at Jackson Creek, Corentyne with a suspected gunshot wound to the head.

The drugs barons have infiltrated the force from top to bottom. How did they know he was investigating them? Police killing our youths drug lords killing the honest police. Guyana is fast becoming a failed state while the plutocrats live it up and the politicians fails us.

RIP Detective Dianand.

My condolences to the family of this man, this is very sad indeed. We currently have a shortage of professionals(e sp those who act in a professional manner) let him not die in vein and instead let us use our energies to pursue his killers and send an even stronger message to those that are involved in the heinous activity of drug smuggling. So young with so much potential, rest in peace.

Its called one against the other. When Brummel took over, he gave us the impression he will start using the "lite detector chamber" to address Police Conduct.

He called for corrupt badges but we are still to see Brummel in action. He more concern with maintaining the system of oppression.

We all know if the young cop making a lot of "drug bust" his life will be in danger, his performance compare to his peers will be questionable.

Old Police always keep an eye on them S.O don't get close when you doing yuh wuk......

When they start shooting Narcotic Police people start paying attention. Politics and Crime is a dangerous mix people. Let keep looking at this big event as it unfolds with this young cop.

Its just amazing how the corrupt government and police force do everything necessary to protect those officers who kill inocent Guyanese citizens. But did very little to protect this young officer who a trying to help keep drugs off our streets.

I GUESS IT WAS BECAUSE HE, LIKE THE LINDEN TRIO WAS FIGHTING AGAINST THE SYSTEM. SHAME ON THE SENIOR STAFF OF THE GPF.SHAME! SHAME!

He then looked down upon his earth and saw your loving face.
He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest.
His Garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best.
As the days come and go and the world moves on,
I know you're still here, you'll never be gone.
On the night the Angel came and
took your hand,
We cried as you left for an unknown land.
But Heaven rejoiced as you came into
sight,
For your soul was a diamond, shining so bright!

This what happens when a country is in decline. GPF is killing innocent people while their soldiers who are on the frontline defending the and protecting society from the drug barons are being murdered. The priority must be mixed up. There is no leadership. The ship of GPF is with out a navigator just drifting in the wind.

Where is a coherent policing strategy? We are heading down the road to Columbia and Mexico style drug cartel takeover. I think we are already there. An employee is caught with drugs the employer setup a Board of Inquiry!!! This is a law enforcement function to investigate and go where ever the evidence leads.

But the police has given up their responsibility; now their soldier in the field are being executed. This is why a no confidence vote was passed in parliament. And the government has done nothing about it. The PPP/C is presiding over the a killing field call "Guyana" . The bodies are filling trenched and back lands again. The diplomatic corps must be blamed also. They need to condemn this government and stop placing their citizens in harms way. The patronize facilities owned by the same people firm whose employee are tainted by drug trafficking. As best there firms security were breeched and they are tainted. An investigation into the extent is essential. To do less is to place American, British and Canadian Citizens in harms way. This is unforgiven. Do your jobs Messrs Ambassadors. Declare this country a narco-state.

Quoting colin Westmoreland:

This is the reason I am calling on Guyanese to make Guyana a issue in this up coming Presidential election and members who want to return to congress.

If you can only lift you voice for Israel and leave Guyana out then lets vote for Law Makers who can direct the hands of the President of the U.S.A on Guyana so our people can be safe.....

My condolence to the late officer family, but this bring me to ask the question, what type of training do these policemen are exposed to before they are assigned to such a dangerous tasked, Being a narcotic agent would surely required you to be in company most times with a fellow officer while on duty, Maybe he was not on duty but you have to take care of your personal security at all times. Narcotics is serious business, May be no one take anything serious in Guyana.

you truly sound like an idiot , He worked at moleson creek ,somewhere along the line information is being distorted , The road to moleson creek from crabwood creek is about 3-4 miles long and it's lonely. Thats where he was shot and killed. The police don't know anything, so far they're investigating , his car was in park when they found him ,telling his that he knew his assassin, and stopped under some circumstance. End of discussion
He was a young upcoming detective, making drug busts almost every week , thus making him a threat to drug pushers.

Crime and the death of the good Officers who work hard to fight it is not a PNC, APNU PPP, or WPA thing! IT IS A NATIONAL THING!

It belongs to EVERY GUYANESE!

When we look the otehr way because our relatives and family and friends "doing a li'l hustle", when we condone what they do by aiding them to "stash' the narcotics, be the lookouts, de watchmen, the runners and the crooked collegues, then we give more life to this scourge that is sweeping our nation.

many people prefer to talk up but do nothing! The system is riddled with the drug cartel's corrupt "paid for men and women" in every sphere, at every level and across every walk of life. that's the reality....Who wants to bell their cats?
