Diwali Night 2012 saw Demerara Waves taking its roving lens around Campbelville, considered a major source of attraction for people of all
walks of life regardless of their religious persuasion, racial background, age or other persuasion.
Numerous persons walked, rode and drove through the streets to glimpse the colourful and brightly lit homes. Many took away those brilliant memories with them on their phones and cameras.
Also, a number of Demerara Waves' readers sent in photos of Diwali Night and motorcades held Monday night.

Now that is just beautiful! It should be like this 24/7, 365 days of the year, then Guyana could have a truly effective tourist sector. Alas there are those who ...., Well, let that go unstated, well all know who 'those'are.

All those lights will always look good in a *darkened backdrop*. People in general need to have their light shining ( in and through them daily) these homes look very familiar to me, grew up in Campbellville. Unfortunately, I'm not missing Guyana at all!!!.

I am an Afro Guyanese who grew up as a Christian. In Christianity there is no Diwali or Celibration or lights. In fact I have no knowledge about what Hindus belive in. But as a christian we are required to seek knowledge. And so at this time when Hindus celebrate there festival of lighes I would like if a hindu person could enlighten me on one matter.
In christianity we are tought that discrimination of every sort is evil and must be rejected.

I'd like to know what Hinduism teaches about discrimination. Could a knowledgeable hindi subscriber shed some light on that.

Thank you.PEACE ,LOVE, LIGHT.

Diwali greetings to all Guyanese ,may the divine light of Mahaalakshmi illuminate Guyana like the olden days.So we can come back and enjoy our birth country. If our new president can bring some gurkas from India to battle all the killings and protect each village then Guyana will shine as before.

Comments like this is the cause of our beloved country to be in the state it was under the PNC regime. Please lets stop this and build Guyana as one people. Our brother at post # 8 just said that Christianity teaches that discrimination is evil and should be rejected.

Hindus do not believe in discrimination, the believe in KARMA, people who are born with a bag full of bad Karma they are mostly dark skinned, born in a poor home or country, sickly or handicapped, they are given the chance to get rid of their bad Karma or the cycle goes on,..

Kim I agree with you JESUS IS THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE!. I am so thankful to my Parents for not raising me in ignorance, because what seeing in the comments hmmm leaves much to be desired. There is a saying open your mouth and I will tell you who you are. People like those have Guyana the way it is. I am dark skinned and not poor but am richly blessed in the Lord. Nobody make anyone run from Guyana, if you think things are better come back now. Or else stop listening to ignorance being peddled. Come live for your self
