The Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) has rescinded three disciplinary letters issued to nurses in connection with the disappearance of a quantity of morphine.

CEO Michael Khan last month dismissed two nurses and suspended a third in what the nurses union, the GPSU, described as an arbitrary manner contrary to a dispute settlement agreement between the two entities.

A release from the GPHC on Friday stated that its Board of Directors met on Thursday and decided that the letters should be rescinded.

It also decided that the nurses be written to advising them that there was a violation of the hospital’s Protocol for Ordering, Storage and Use of Narcotics of which they were aware and that the matter be referred to the Nursing Council.

The GPSU wrote Khan on Wednesday demanding that they meet within five days to discuss the matter. The union was calling for the nurses to be reinstated.

The GPHC has caved-in to the BULLY tactics of the GPSU. Now some GPSU members will continue with their THEFT of drugs that the poor, hard working TAX PAYERS pay for knowing that their BULLY union will defend them and the SPINELESS GPHC will remain...INEFFECTIVE. What a country...what a JOKE.

Truth and Integrity Commissioner, you are JOKE and a big one too. Guyana and its administration are in safe hands. The requirement for natural justice and every public employee's right to a hearing are what led to the rescinding of the dismissal and suspension orders. GUYANA THE FREE.
