Following is the full text of a statement issued by National Football Captain, Christopher Nurse: Having known Colin Edwards as a fellow member of the Guyana National Team, I have to say that my memories of Colin is that he was very genuine and honest person who wore his heart on his sleeve. He went about his training in the correct manner and demonstrated the correct mentality and disciplines, operated with no regrets and always gave it his all and did his best. Colin was a big character amongst the players and will be missed tremendously by all of us. As Guyana National Team Captain and on behalf of all the players near and afar, we send our condolences to your family Colin and promise to continue to give our all in every game and drive on to be successful in your memory. Every time we put on our boots and step out to play football Colin will be in our minds and never have we had more motivation as players to go onto the pitch and to train everyday as if it is our last day, because the reality is that it could be. It’s important that we get together now as a team, a nation, players, fans and executives and come together as a football family and stand by each other and become a stronger unit and go on to make Colin Edwards proud of us as individuals, as a team and as a footballing nation. Colin was and still remains an important link within Guyana National Team and the Golden Jaguars. We have not lost him; he has spread himself around each one of us to makes us a stronger unit together. Colin Edwards will continue to live on in the hearts of each and every one of us. RIP Colin Edwards your spirit will live on our hearts forever. The next national team game will be a victory in your memory. God Bless. Golden Jaguars Forever. |
