Guyanese Public Health Specialist, Dr. Rudolph Cummings is mission by the Caribbean Community (Caricom) to make preparations for the establishment of treatment centres to fight the cholera epidemic.
The team will also undertake site visits of the proposed clinics at Fonds Verrette and Thomazeu. Caricom said in a statement.

Senior Deputy Director of Caricom’s Office of Trade Negotiations (OTN), Carl Greenidge would not face any sanctions for remarks that the Guyana government considered “offensive” but there are question marks about whether his contract would be renewed after it expires at the end of the year.
“I don’t know that there is any sanctionable action that one would necessarily be taking in a contract which ends in another week,” said Caricom Secretary General, Sir Edwin Carrington.

Guyana on Thursday announced that it has lost all confidence in Senior Deputy Director of Caricom’s Office for Trade Negotiations (OTN), Carl Greenidge because of comments he made in a tribute to his late former ministerial colleague, Winston Murray.
Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Roger Luncheon told a news conference that government has formally told the Caricom Secretariat that it found Greenidge’s remarks about government’s management of the economy to have been “offensive.”

The number of nominees for the post of Secretary General of the 15-nation Caribbean Community (Caricom) on Tuesday grew to five, with Suriname’s announcement that that its Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), Henry Mac Donald would be joining the race.
Mac Donald,40, is a human rights lawyer.
Secretary General, Sir Edwin Carrington leaves the job on December 31 after an 18-year stint but it is unclear how soon his replacement would be named.

President Bharrat Jagdeo-- the first Caricom leader congratulating President-elect of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff-said he is looking forward to working with her for the benefit of the two neighbouring South American countries.
The Guyanese leader gave the assurance in a congratulatory message following Rousseff's election on Sunday as the first female president of Brazil, taking the helm from her exceedingly popular mentor Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who oversaw one of the fastest growing economies in Latin America.
