The recent murder of a two-year-old child of Guyanese parentage has left many Trinidadians in shock and expressing anger against the Guyanese community in this country. Despite the fact that similar such horrific incidents have been carried out by TT nationals, many locals have been going on the radio talk shows to express their ire with the expanding illegal Guyanese community in this country and their impact on the crime situation.

Hindu and Sikh communities across the globe begin celebrating Diwali this Thursday, and Richmond Hill's Little Guyana is abuzz about the five-day festival. Residents of the Indo-Carribean enclave in Queens along Liberty Ave. dress up, light small clay lamps and share sweets with family and friends to commemorate the triumph of good over evil.

Mr. Edwin CarringtonSecretary General of the 15-nation Caribbean Community (Caricom), Edwin Carrington; President, Bharrat Jagdeo and Guyana's main opposition Peoples National Congress Reform (PNCR) on Saturday paid tribute to Prime Minister of Barbados, David Thompson who died of pancreatic cancer earlier in the day.
 
Mr Carrington noted that during Mr Thompson's brief stint, he took an "evidence-based" approach while at the same time being calm and deliberate in dealing with delicate and difficult matters.
Mr. Thompson died at his home at 2:10 am Sunday.
