The body of Claudius Perry

A freak storm blew down a house at Dadanawa, Rupununi, killing a man and injuring his pregnant wife and toddler son.

Dead is Claudius Perry, said to be in his late 30s. His wife, 28-year old Joy Perry, and their three year old son Claver Perry were injured.

A senior official in the region said that Dadanawa, a village located about 40 miles in the South Rupununi, experienced strong winds Tuesday night.

Preliminary information suggests that the man sustained trauma to his head.

Described as a “range house” that once accommodated cowboys, the structure collapsed under the force of the storm.

And around 10:30 Wednesday morning, sections of the Essequibo Coast experienced strong winds that damaged at least one house and knocked out electricity supply.

The wind tore off a section of the roof of Anwar Ali’s house at Land of Plenty. The caretaker, who was at home at the time of the freak storm, did not immediately realize that the roof was damaged.
