An illegal immigrant from Guyana faces charges related to possessing crack and cocaine with the intent to deliver it in Wilkes-Barre, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania reports, the Citizens Voice newspaper reported.

A federal grand jury charged Augustine DeCruz on Wednesday with possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited to have one, and using, carrying or possessing a firearm related to a drug trafficking crime. DeCruz had cocaine hydrochloride, as well as 28 grams of cocaine base, also known as crack cocaine, which he planned to distribute in Wilkes-Barre, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

If convicted, DeCruz could face imprisonment for up to 55 years and fines of more than $750,000.

The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations and Pennsylvania State Police, and is being prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian G. McDonnell.

The Times Leader newspaper reported that State police searched Decruz’s residence in the 800 block of North Pennsylvania Avenue on Feb. 10, finding packaged bags of crack cocaine inside a flashlight and rolled up socks, and three firearms, including a handgun reportedly stolen in Dallas Township, according to arrest records.
